From download to first launch in four steps

No installer is required. Download the Windows archive from the developer, extract it, and launch the game from its own folder.

    Use the link on this page to reach the developer's Early Access release on Itch.

    Download the Windows zip

    Choose the current Windows archive and wait for the full download to complete.

  3. 03

    Extract the entire archive

    Unzip every file into a writable folder such as Games, not inside the archive or Program Files.

  4. 04

    Launch and wait once

    Run the game from the extracted folder and allow first-run shader compilation to finish.

If the game does not start

Confirm the archive is fully extracted, keep at least 5 GB free, update GPU drivers, and review the newest developer notes or Discord messages.

No. The current Early Access release supports single battles. Double battles are still outside the available build.
Does Pokemon Gamma Emerald support controllers?
Yes. Keyboard and controller input are supported. The developer recommends sticking to one primary input method during a session to avoid inconsistent interface prompts.
Can players trade Pokemon?
Yes. Peer-to-peer trading is available in the current Early Access build.
Is Gamma Emerald available on Android, iPhone, Mac, or Linux?

Should I back up my save?

Why does the first launch take a while?
Unreal Engine compiles shaders on first run. On slower hardware this can look like a pause, so give the process time to finish.
Where does Early Access currently end?
Main-story progression stops after Mauville City. Later Hoenn areas, more Pokemon, National Dex work, and localization remain in development without a fixed public completion date.
